You’ll Never Leave | A short

A short film we made one day at Lighthouse Park, Vancouver, BC, Canada

I wanted to get out of the house and produce something short and random.

A lot went wrong during the process. A lot of people were in the park that day, which I kind of expected but it was packed.

This meant a lot of shots were ruined with walkthroughs, a lot of random noise, screaming, laughing, dogs barking. Many extra takes were shot.

Towards the end, we got frustrated and hungry but I guess that’s how it goes. So we recorded the voice-over again. Which became a process in itself. I had forgotten a splitter so I could monitor both the original audio and the re-takes. This lead to out of sync audio, and a lot of audio that was recorded with different words. I didn’t notice until late. Frustrating.

I had wanted to shoot a color card and create a LUT for each scene. Yes, I forgot that too. No card no LUT no luck.

Anyway, I learnt a lot from this project. I had a lot of takeaways. Though this isn’t the end result I was expecting here we go. I hope it’s received well and enjoyed. Stoked to be out shooting these things!
